i started a punk rock band with my friends. we have good songwriting and we are very passionate about what we are doing. we're fed up with society and its rules. but we go to a prep school, not from a punk scene, and none of us has ever been to a punk rock show. however, we listen to and love bands like black flag, minor threat, the ramones, sex pistols, bad religion, green day, bane and rise against. are we posers? does this dispel credibility and/or commercial success? do you need to be punk to make punk music?

i consider punk rock to be more pure rock than anything else. i, myself am poor. i dunno why my parents afforded to send me to this school, but i'm kinda glad they did. cause then this band never would have been formed.

Yes, you're posers. If you were punk, you wouldn't be asking this.

First, you like some GREAT bands. and who cares what other people think? Only posers really care about image&junk, and that should more or less anwser your question. Yeah, you kinda have to AT LEAST understand punk and have been through some hard times to make good punk music, but music is music and if it sounds good, nothing else mattters. Who gives a **** what other people think or say?

hey, if you like the music, then you aren't a poser. if you're just saying you like the music to try and fit in with someone or for any other reason than you really like it, then you'd be a poser. nothing wrong with never going to a concert, you don't have to go to a concert to want to be in a band and like good music. so no, you guys aren't posers.
