I am thinking they will do in Cheney the same way they did Rummy in the next few weeks or months. How about someone like Chuck Hagel, John McCain or Mitt Romney, all of whom have presidential ambitions?

Dick Cheney, no matter what ones views of him are, continues to have heart problems despite doctors saying that he's healthy. Things can possibly change for the worse very quickly for anybody, and Dick Cheney is no exception. President Bush and the Republican Party continue to struggle with low approval ratings, and the Republican Party, at every political level, had one of its worst showings ever on November 7. President Bush and the Republican Party, like it or not, are going to do all that they can do to gain favor with the majority of voters prior to November 4, '08, and this will include major and minor changes from within the Bush administration. Dick Cheney has already said several times that he has no interest in ever running for President, and the '08 Presidential race will be a very "open" race for everyone involved .One of these possible changes could come with President Bush replacing Vice President Dick Cheney with either Condi Rice or Mitt Romney-two people who President Bush like very much. There are many people who are already predicting that it will be either Condi Rice (despite her saying over and over again that she isn't interested in running for President anytime soon) or Mitt Romney who will end up as the Republicans final choice for President in '08. Having either Condi Rice or Mitt Romney become Vice President could help to boost either persons' chances at becoming President in '08.

"Rumsfeld and Cheney will be with me until the end" quote from one of Bush's press conference's before the election Nov 06. I think that politically it could happen. Both were real low in approval ratings of the American people as with George Bush. It would allow for a candidate to be elevated to a viable candidate to continue the Bush agenda which is the politics of personal gain and any of those people would do that and give the repuglicans a chance in the up coming presidential election. So yes it is a strong possibility that it will happen. I am hoping that the American people see through this and vote again for a change in direction in 06

The Secretary of Defense serves at the President's pleasure. The Vice President is elected to a four year term. End of story.

I am really only real familar with McCain, but I cant see that happening, McCain is much more middle of the road, the Neocons will never support him, unless he is pretty much used as a prop., that is if VP steps down for medical reasons or something.

Not likely. Everyone surrounding Dubbya was hand picked by Papa Bush, many, like Cheney coming from his previous administration. This is a dynasty and Cheney is on the board of directors.

I don't think Cheney would really care. He has no political ambitions and has stated repeatedly that he serves at the pleasure of the president. He would just either retire or go back to private industry. No big deal to him. It would be a whole lot less BS if he did.

No... the Vice President will serve out his term. In spite of your wishful thinking, President doesn't have, nor would he use if he did, the power to dispose of elected officials. You have a strange idea of how politics works in this country

I don't think so. The Congress has to impeach him. He can't be fired like Rummy was.
