I'm a beginner at bass and I'm not too hto with the theory side of music and need to make a bassline. The guitar chords are Am, F, C, E. So A, F, C n E is my bassline at the moment, but this sounds really dull, and would like some help as I am really eager to widen my understanding of which notes work together. Thanks guys

Try using some of the notes that are in the chords.
A bouncy bass line could go...
AACA/FFED/CCEC/BDEE if you're doing four beats in the bar (with the chord progression you have).
Once you've sorted out the chords you could change the rhythm, so that you play 'dotted' rhythms, or slightly off the beat to give a funky feel (?).
Listen to (dare I say it ) Jamiroquai, and 70's disco/funk stuff, and hear how they play around with the chords.
The bass doesn't just have to play the root of the chord all the time.
As I said before, you can use any of the notes in the chord, and add a seventh here and there for a bit of variety.
