My first love was "K" when I was 12. We hang out together holding hands and stuff and when we were 15 we first kissed. We had a fight- don't remember what for anymore- and didn't speak for 5 years. We met again when I was 21 but I had a relationship at the time so I lost him again. He was, he is and he is going to be the love of my life. I'm 28 and we're getting married next year. Not all fairy tales have a bad ending in real life!

In some cases its true. For a great example of this- look up Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio. She was the love of his life and vice versa however, she ended up leaving him for Arthur Miller (a playwrite) who had a more stable foundation.
On the opposite end of the spectrum (using Hollywood again) think of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart- they were the loves of their lives and famously so. There are other couples out there that also examplify this kind of "soul mate" theory.
Sometimes its not meant to last, other times it is. Its a hard thing to explain since there's no concrete theory on love that holds true to everyone.
The best example I can give you as to people who married the love of their life and are still married to them is my parents. They compliment eachother perfectly and have been married over 25 years- still happy and in love. I wish you the same happiness when you find it because, occasionally it does work out and the person who is the love of your life is the one you end up with.

The one you get married to usually ends up being the love of your life... f you dont get along with someone you love very much, chances are you should stay VERY VERY close friends...
maybe that will help...

I don't think that there is any one marriage that is the same as the next.
May be true to some marriages.
and others...
