I just started going to church with my grandma on Sundays two weeks ago. The first week I went, I was sitting in the pew and looked over and saw my english teacher. I about died. She is not one of my favorite teachers but shes not evil or anything. I hoped she wouldn't see me but after church she came over and talked to me. She said "You lucky girl! You get to see me six days this week!" Then she gave me a hug. I was thinking O yeah, lucky me! And what with the hugs? She doesn't do that at school! Anyway the second week I pretended like I didn't see her and did't tallk to her. The last thing I want to do is see my teacher on the weekend. I know I am going to have to get used to her being there but how should I act. Should I pretend I don't see her every week or do I go and tell her hi. I don't want to be rude but I don't really want to just go up and give her a hug every week. What do I do? This is REALLY awkward.

Just remember that she is human too and has feelings as well maybe she thinks it's great that you are making an effort to serve the Lord and who knows maybe she won't seem so bad if you just let Christ work it out. I know the hug thing might be weird but people at church tend to be huggy just cuz they have a lot of love to share and feel safe doing it at church. Don't avoid her but you don't have to go talk to her every time either. Just go with the flow.

Be nice and hug her. Perhaps when you experience what being purposely ignored feels like, you might learn not to practice that negative behavior.Your teacher is a person and the hug at church was appropriate; in school it isn't. happy Thanksgiving

What is so wrong by being a friend to your teacher. There is nothing wrong with you going up to your teacher and saying hello. YOur at church, grow up and stop being such a snob.

look..you are acting like a snob a real tarty snob..she is trying to be nice to you and unlike you is able to recognise that as a teacher she has a responsibilty to maintain an image suited to educate you and everyone else..outside of school she must feel relieved to be able to drop her guard and genuinly be friendly to you in the way she wishes she could in school..just accept it..its not everyday someone offered you a hug..if you cant accept friendlyness god help you with the rest of your life

Remember it is always nice to be nice. What harm will it be to say hello, after church? and what is wrong with a hug? who knows you may end up to be one to her favorite people! So try and be nice to her.

Might not be a bad thing if the old english grades ever take a dip.

Just say hi and make a short conversation and then go talk to your grandma so she doesn't try and keep talking to you!

don't make eye contact, thats the way to be rude without being rude outwardly, shes a teacher she has probably already figured out you don't like her with your body language, She is probably trying to make you feel uncomfortable

I would just say hello..that's the proper thing to do...it's not like there is any reason that you shouldnt...and no, you don't have to hug her! :-)
