These quick lube places have a very bad reputation amongst autmotive forums. I see places like this on the news every once and awhile and I provided a link in the sources. Jiffy Lube is one of the worst places in my opinion. They tried to sell my mother a new air filter and wipers when both items were there for only a month and they insisted on it even after she said NO. They have a quota to fill and they do try to sell you things that you dont need. Find a different place to go. Many people like independant shops.

Generally there is only one person you can trust and that is yourself. One jiffy Lube might have good people that do a great job and that treats you right but another may not, just like any independent garage. Wal-Mart is no better and I have read horror stories on the web from folks who had their oil changed there. There are a lot of Wal-Marts and I'm sure that because a few mess up doesn't mean that others aren't OK. I think the problem lies with Wal-Mart not hiring certified mechanics. Anyone off the street can be hired to change your oil. The same may be true of Jiffy lube and others. You may not have a problem right away but a half dozen oil changes or so later you may find that your drain plug is stripped out because it was over tightened. A real mechanic would know better. If you aren't going to do it yourself you are best going to an independent mechanic that you know and trust or to a dealer if you don't mind paying a lot and have them recommending additional services that you may or not need especially at their premium prices. Another place that would be a good place to go would be a Firestone dealer. Their prices are more reasonable than the dealer and they have certified reliable mechanics. But they may try to sell you additional services as well. The one I have been to seems to treat their customers well. Also many if not most of these places may not use the oil recommended by your manufacturer. Some will use only 10W30 oil because they don't want to stock drums different oils for different cars. Make sure you use the oil recommended for your car. If it is 5W30 use 5W30. If it is 5W20 then use 5W20. The engineers that work for the manufacturers know what they are doing. And don't waste your money on 3,000 mile oil changes.

greenheat might have a point. Jiffy Lube is a franchise, like Midas or McDonalds. Each one will depend on the management and employees as to service you receive. I persobally would not go to an advertised quick job or it's free or other offers. I would rather wait 30 minutes and watch to see that the service is performed.

i work at a place simular to jiffy lube....there are cars that dont get everything promissed with the "extras". i dont trust where i work and wouldnt trust any other place. yeah, they will change your oil and it probably wont break because they can be liable if it does. the issue with them not putting in enough oil might be because there is an oil capacity number. this does not include any oil that the filter is holding...so if they were supposed to put in 6 quarts and the filter holds a quart..then the dipstick would read low....find someone you trust and keep checking your own oil.

Hope you kept receipt. If so, nicely show receipt and complain to manager, not grease monkey in pit. Jiffy Lube strives to maintain a high level business at a modest cost. If no receipt, try anyway. They may have put a sticker in your windshield.

It is just like the sign shows a service in a jiffy.I work on cars and I know that they cut corners so they can get the car in and out. When I service a car I check all the fluids ,belts, hoses& tire presher .They are not aloud to take the time to do every thing that they should do. Take your car to a reguler shop and you should get the service you deserve.

careful, in britain we call condoms 'jiffies' and lube is just 'lube'. put them together and your american company name becomes 'condom lube'
look back at these answers now, they all sound like sexual innuendo's. unless they are....
