The salary. It sucked.

But apart from that, I had a wonderful experience working about 8 months in a pub in England. The long hours did not even bother me. It was hard work alright starting from 7.30 am till well after midnight 6 and half days a week with just a few hours in between for breaks. I suppose I was lucky (not everybody was mind due) I was part of a good team, New-Zealanders, Australians, Irish, Scots, Welsh..we all got on great.
Great atmosphere and the punters came from all walks of life; from the unemployed to CEOs ; we got to know quite a few customers very well and it was a very enjoyable experience.

As it was a "live-in" experience, the pub became a sort of a home and my co-workers and I formed a kind of family.

We saw lots, heard lots, laughed lots and partied lots.

Unfortunately the pub came under new management and staff started to leave and the atmosphere degraded and each one left soon one after the other.
