Viscosity can be measured in a variety of
units. A convenient unit to use is the Poise.

The viscosity of water at room temp is
about 1 cP or 0.01 Poise.

The viscosity of glycerol or honey is probably
something like 500-1000 cP..ie thicker than
water.

Shampoo is from my experience something
like 10-100 cP, ie. thicker than water but runnier than honey..

It's only important if you want to find out how thick the shampoo will be. The viscosity will not always be an indicator of how concentrated the shampoo will be because there could be other thickening agents in the shampoo.

Its very important because it determines how fast the stuff comes out of the bottle. People will pay more for thick ( viscous) shampoo, but they don't like to wait forever till it comes out. So getting the viscosity right is commercially important.

The viscosity of shampoo varies with the type and brand; I'm sure each one is a little different, depending on its ingredients.

Probably one says reasonable values, but attention, water and oil are Newtonian liquids, honey and shampoo are not Newtonian fluids so you can' t simply use some normal fluidynamic formulas,
