Okay, I'm probably being really dim, but how would a USB cable do anything?

these answers that suggest of using a USB to USB Datalink Cable are in principle correct but it doesn't work because you can neither share the folders nor install the communication program on the PC for this Link Cable. did you ever try to do this blindly? .. :p
so it might be the better solution to hook the TV set to the PC using a S-video cable, provided that the PC has an S-video output and the TV set has the corresponding input.

Possibly so, you could try connecting a USB cable between the two and it's possible, the PCs hard drive will show up in My Computer of the laptop. It can't hurt anything to try this. Depending on the operating system (Windows 98, 2000, XP) you might kick off the Direct Cable Connection application in Accessories, I believe. A serial cable may be required for this though and if so, it will be very slow. Good Luck!
A USB cable would act as a communication channel between the two computers.

No it rather isn't any longer possible without beginning the laptop and removing the wiring. I recommend you connect your close by Freecycle team the place human beings many times supply away older video demonstrate gadgets for no longer something.

It might be easier to just borrow a friend's monitor for a little while.
