There are several ways to do it.

The most expensive option also offers the best performance. Buying a set of coilover shocks will lower your car from half an inch to 4 inches depending on what they advertise. This could cost you $800 to $2,000 depending on brand.

The second option is to install shorter springs with the current suspension. This is cheaper but doesn't really add much performance besides the lower center of gravity. It will cause your car to be somewhat bouncy. These are relatively cheap, costing $300 to $600.

The final option would be to take a torch to your current stock springs to heat them up. This will soften them, allowing your car to sag down further. You can also cut the springs short. This is free of course as long as you can do it yourself, but it will cause your car to be even bouncier than it would be with replacement springs.

heating springs is the cheapest way....however, when they are heated, they are "softer" so now you have just lowered it 2 inches and have a ride comfort of a caddy...so scraping bottom going down the freeway is a possiblity. i lowered my 93maxima several years ago and wish i hadnt...i just bought springs and used the original struts (with shorter springs)...i can corner great and it looks great...but it always feels like i need an alignment and pulls both directions depending on the road. every little bump i feel and it makes me think my car is going to break when i hit the big potholes....if the roads are bad where you live, DONT DO IT. my springs were $100 and 8 hours worth of labor (i replaced the brakes at the same time). if thats your choice, get a chilton manual and spring compressor and have at it.

Modifying a vehicle from factory specs is never a good idea. Lowering one is an especially bad idea, which can lead to tickets, damage from parking lot entrances, and tow trucks either refusing to service you or charging premium prices.
