that car came with either a 3.3 or a 3.5 v6. there should be a sticker under the hood somewhere that tells you which one you have.

as the first fella said they are 3.3 (201) and 3.5 liter (215) they are pretty good for the most part, the 3.3 needs 87 octane gas as the 3.5 need 89 octane, I have had my intrepid for years and never had a real bad issue, starters gone, andjust the regular wear and tear stuff but as long as you maintain them they last for a long time, i have a friend that has a 94 concord, and it has 350000km on it and it is still running great. the cars them selfs are fairly good too, rides like a caddy, but the power is there if you need it, i pull a trailer with my intrepid all the time some times with weight passing the recomended limit and it has no issues not even a hesatation. out of a 10 i would give the car a 8, lots of room for passengers and trunk space. I also get about 28 mpg hope this helps

The way you tell these two engines apart is this: The 3.3L V6 is a pushrod motor. The 3.5L V6 is an Single OverHead Camshaft motor and is very distinctive in apperance. Plus it will say 3.3L or 3.5L on it, or another way is to look at the intake plenum. The 3.5L will have six runners while the 3.3L will have a much simpler intake plenum.

there are 2 different sizes, 3.3l and 3.5l , both are great engines ,but make sure the timing belt and water pump are good on a 3.5l the cars are good in general, change the tranny fluid every 50,000km or you will have problems. I have been a mechanic for 12 years

3.3 or 3.5.....the 3.3 is virtually maintenance free but a little underpowered in an intrepid....the 3.5 would be my choice only downfall is the timing belt, water pump, and idler.....i have had three of them and got well over 200,000 miles out of them still get about 25mpg and they really don't use oil....might leak a little though.....all three of the problems i listed though should be replaced every 80,000 miles....if you are mechanically inclined they are not hard to work on.....just look intimidating that's all
