Go to start Control Panel, Sound and Audio devices. There you can check/set up your audio. If you have a sound card, go to START and select what ever your sound card is and check its settings.

The exact same thing happened to me. If you use a Dell, go to dell.com and support and drivers and click on drivers. Then state your model. If you don't have a dell, check with your manufacturer's webpage, theres bound to be drivers you can download.
