hey hun my dad isnt a sissy or a chav and he wears one.
Mens ones tend to be a lot 'chunkier' than females so if you have trued it on and it looks ok on you (not too small in comparison with the size of your hand) go for it?
If you like it why worry what others think?
if you can be anyone be youself!!

Well, as far as i know being a Muslim, it is not at all permissible for anyone, whether a man or a woman is a secondary matter, first of all being a muslim you should know this yourself that, can you always be clean all the time without any mistake or delay? This is not possible, instead you will commit more sin, apart from this why do you think of doing all this, there are lots of other things that one can get engraved & wear, why only this? Now, whereas it has got to do with physical & spiritual protection, wear allah's dua ki tabeez at your neck & try to pray your namaaz most of the time, five times is farz, can't muslims take out five times for the sake of allah, who has given us so much in life? Just give a thought to this once.

Some sovereign rings are for women and not men. Your mum is probably right-some look quite feminine.

It may be old and of some value. However they are Hyper Chav especially on women.
Are you a chav ? Do you have a shell suit ? Do you drive a Ford that's been crashed into Halfords ?
Do you want to improve your social standing ? If yes keep it in the draw forever !!

soverign rings are made for feminine or male use as in the difference in size so your mums ring will be small in size and would look a bit silly on your hand unless that is you have a small slim hand

Yes, it's a man thing - but personally it makes my skin crawl to see one on a man.
