Correct me if I'm wrong, but i always thought that the main reason for the American War of Independence starting was because the rich American slave owners (Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and Adams) did not want to give up their rights to slaves as the British were making them do. Then when the French won "American Independence" by defeating the British, they implemented a system of government which represents the whole of the monied classes (stolen from Rome and we all know what happened to them!). Meaning that a President can be elected not by the amount of votes won but by being declared first.

On a more modern point my whole amusement in the idiosyncrasies of America can be viewed in the wearing of moral patches by their troops in Iraq. Which President would christen a global campain,

Terror. Yes that's right T*W*A*T and have all their soldiers wear them.

Hmmmm, one appears to have stirred up a hornet's nest here. Defeated the British hey, well we may have lost the American War of Independance, however do you know why the White House is so named and not because it's painted white? I somehow doubt it. A clue for you. It got the name "The White House" after August 24th 1814. Prior to that it was called "The Senate House" or "The President's Palace" and the new name came about because of some white wash used to cover up rather a lot of scorch marks!

To correct 'know it all' the war in Europe WWII was effectively won by the Russians, who were also the first troops to encircle, enter and capture Berlin at great cost in terms of lives lost, or has Hollywood rewritten that part of history as well. Does he not know that the allied sectors in post war Berlin were enclaves within Russian controlled East Germany.

let's take up a collection and buy rebecca a history book. the american revolutionary war had nothing to do with slavery. it was about one thing. independence. britains goal at the time was to rule the world, but my forefathers envisioned an independent nation, free from british rule and taxes. led by cornwalace, the redcoats then launched an unprovoked attack on our shores and were soundly defeated by our young nation led by one of the greatest generals in the history of warfare, george washington. incedently, the brits didn't learn their lesson. they attacked us again 35 years later and were sent back across the atlantic with their tails between their legs once more after the war of 1812.

now, to the moron who implied that we DIDN'T win WW2, how 'bout a history book for you too. at the same time that we were single handedly beating what was supposed to be the greatest military on earth(japan), we saved europes *ss from the nazis. you can try to close your eyes and cover your ears and deny it all you want, but it won't change history. it was the americans who stormed the beaches at normandy and began a push through europe that tipped the scales of the war in europe in the allies favor, and it was the americans who led the charge into berlin that ended the war. you ungrateful europeans would not have stood a chance against hitlers army without our help. the germans were treating your continent like a playground before we arrived.

During the American war of independence America allied itself with France and no one has ever thought USA was licking France´s ***.

what you on.unfortunately america has displayed its weaknesses in the last decade- meaning countries such as iran and north korea are taking the p*ss. it has caused an unsettled world-- it was more settled when russia were marching about !!!! unlike yourself i find it concerning i would prefer the u.s. not to foul things up-- and i'm not a yank........
