I have never had to wear an actual uniform, but I did go to a school where the dress code was extremely strict. It was just like wearing a uniform. At first I hated it, because it was so hard to find cute clothes that fit the rules, but eventually I got used to it, and realized that it wasn't so bad. And having to wear a uniform wouldn't be so bad either. In fact, a uniform would have been much easier than the strict dress code, because I wouldn't have to spend hours finding ONE shirt that wasn't deemed "inappropriate" by the school. Wearing a uniform does take away individual expression, but it also takes away being judged by those rich kids that can afford designer clothes. If a school allows it, you can always accessorize with cute jewelry or something to still show individualism. In fact, if you save a bunch of money on expensive clothes, you can spend more money to buy nicer accessories. So is it right? I think it is. Eventually anyone can get used to it, and maybe even learn to like it.

I think that the idea of uniforms is a great equalizer in school systems. It helps to stop teasing and bullying based solely on fashion or financial status. I am not saying that it will eliminate all forms of harassment within the school system, but it is a good place to start.
However all that said, I have never had to wear a uniform to school, so I am not really aware of the negatives in the equation.
Thanks for asking this though, its an interesting debate.

Yes in some cases I do. Because at some schools "poor", "uncool" kids get picked on for what clothes they wear. If everyone had to wear a uniform then there wouldnt be as many kids being picked on and their self-esteem might escalate making their performance in school at a higher level than what it would be w/o uniforms. But thats just my opinion...

The wearing of a school uniform is the best thing that could happen and be experienced by young people. Why? That way there will not be any envy or showing off from anyone to anyone. All will be equal while in school. Think of it as humans being color blind, just seeing shades of grays, then there won't be any discriminations or prejudices or racisms.

I loved wearing a uniform for a few reasons, for a start there was no peer pressure on clothing everyone wore the same thing, school spirit is better because we were wearing the school colours and school uniforms are cute

Yes. I had to wear one in high school and I didn't like it at first but then I came to realize that it really eliminated alot of the competition when it came to dress, and it was a helluva lot easier to pick out what you have to wear in the morning :D

Yes. It breaks down social barriers which are created by fashions. If all people wear the same, no one can be singled out for being poor, unfashionable, etc.
It is also cheaper for parents, who don't have to keep paying for expensive designer gear so their kid can fit in.

Yes. It removes peer impact of clothes (yours aren't as nice as mine) as well as raises student achievement according to all measures.
