Personal responsibilty is something that people in this country have lost. Too many people want to give sympathy and second chances. Some want to ignore their duties because they can't spend anytime in Texas if they actually work.
In my house, if you are responsible for something then, ultimately the buck stops at your feet. The decisions that you make have consequences and rewards. The trick to life is to pick the one with the better upside.

Personal responsibility is when a person takes the initiative to take care of themselves. Their results are because of their actions. If they want success, they will take the initiative to go and get it.

The opposite of personal responsibility is the welfare state that liberals have created. All dependence on welfare does is buy votes for Democrats. They have destroyed the black family in America. A large majority of black children are born out of wedlock. The government has taken the place of the father and it is pathetic. It is considered acceptable in America for women to have children out of marriage. We are paying the price for this everyday.
