Just curious. In America, they are by and large...
Is it a generational thing or what?
I ask this because I'm not sure to go ahead with it if we have a son here? (Not pregnant, thank goodness!)

No, it's not done over here unless requested on religious or medical grounds. Jews and Muslim have it done but most babies do not

in accordance to the NHS, purely 3% of boys contained in the united kingdom are circumcised for non-non secular causes. The NHS does, although, guard a hypocritical stance on the placement, accepting that there are continually a lot less negative concepts for treatment even as nevertheless appearing this supposedly ineffective operation for complications like balanitis and balanoposthitis that won't be able to probable be cured by circumcision. curiously the NHS has yet to locate antibiotics. in words of 'adult men', i will't locate any figures for human being circumcision contained in the united kingdom. i believe the occurrence will be even lower than it really is for boys (even perchance decrease than a million%), because it really is an really severe priced technique, no longer lined by the NHS, it really is purely as ineffective and negative as even as that's finished in formative years. in words of non secular circumcisions, i'm sensible fairly some boys are mutilated to soothe the Jewish or Muslim god. yet in my opinion, i imagine counting faith as a 'reason' to circumcise is an oxymoron. that's like declaring the conception in vampires is a 'reason' to carry close garlic cloves on your door.

Quite a few are, it's done for medical reasons sometimes if not religious. Unless it's neccassry though I wouldn't bother. It's not really a fashion decision and never put me off a guy one way or the other!
I don't even think I have ever really thought about it when with a guy.

The reason is, Americans are under the (misguided) effect that it's more hygenic. That's because they don't wash properly. By the same reasoning I should cut off my arm because if I never wash it, it too will get dirty.
So not a generational thing as much as a society thing. People absorb certain ideas, and on the face of things never bother to question their stupidity.
