well if you consider that some individual colonies have more people than some small cities, then definatly. It is hypothesised that the weight of ants on the planet exceeds the total wieght of every person on the planet.
Lets look at it form a different perspective, it takes roughly 2.5 million ants to weight 170-180 pounds which is a rough average human weight, now, there are about 5 billion people on the planet, thats quite a bit, but then you should consider that the number of ants is 2.5 million times that number......I dont even think they have a name for such a number!

I would say absolutely yes! Ants far outnumber humans.
If you think about it, in one colony, ants are being born every second. Literally. Then there are millions of colonies in the world...and all different varieties too. When you spray them with ant spray and wipe up their dead bodies, you may feel like you've killed a lot, but really, you haven't even made a dent in that one ant colony. And once again, keep in mind the millions of colonies in the world...it's crazy how many ants there are!!!

Not only is the number of ants in the world far greater than the number of humans, it has been calculated that the combined mass of all the ants in the world is far greater than the combined mass of all the humans.

Well..since Men in Black came out in 1997...it's not a 50's movie....but...the chances that that scenario is real is highly unlikely...although...it was a humorous movie. We humans already have a pretty good grip on the size and magnitude of the universe...for at least 14 billion light years worth....and that goes beyond the confines of one galaxy being inside a marble.

Definitely! There's more ants in my sister's backyard alone than the entire city of Sugar Land, and I'm sure her neighbors have plenty too...

yes, and even the biomass of ants (weight) is far greater than that of people, even though we are many times larger than they are.
