Black Friday is not an inauspicious day as the prefix Black would seem to suggest. The black has reference to the colour of the ink in which accounts were kept. Entries in black ink showed profits whereas in red showed losses. The Black Friday which falls onthe day following the Thanksgiving day is just ahead of the incoming Chrismas and the merchants make a determined bid too increase their sales to wipe out the red ink entries and to spread black all over by offering attractive set off in prices.A lap top which normally would cost $350 is availale at Walmart for just $150. This temptation is more unavoidable than testing the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Even if Black Friday were to have some inauspicious associations people would have just ignored them and rushed to the market. Here is a small note on Black Friday which brings this aspect out.
Definition: What is Black Friday?
The day after Thanksgiving in the United States, is frequently referred to as Black Friday.
General Use: One of the major U.S. holiday shopping days. The day many U.S. consumers begin Christmas shopping. The day is heavily promoted by retailers.
Origin: The origin of Black Friday comes from the shift to profitability during the holiday season. Black Friday was when retailers went from being unprofitable, or "in the red," to being profitable, or "in the black", at a time when accounting records were kept by hand and red indicated loss and black profit.
Also Known As: The day after Thanksgiving.

I was looking thru walmarts flyer and saw a printer/scanner/copier on sale really cheap. I would LOVE to get it, but to stand in line at 5 am is nuts! I tried going there to buy something a few years ago on a Black friday, and they only had 3 of the item on sale. There was none to be found and I even questioned the manager. I suspect the salespeople bought them before the doors even opened. These Black Friday sales are a rip off to get you in the door.

Because even 10% off is a few dollars less than I would have been paying going at another time. That and I go to all the stores that are passing out free stuff like snowglobes, gift cards, scratch cards and food. Nothing beats good stocking stuffers especially if they're free!

I made that mistake once. I wont do it again. People tend to be extremely rude. I do most of my shopping online. I dont care if it cost more.

Because people are lemmings that love to follow the crowd. Since most of the crowd will be out tomorrow, they have to be there.
