Parties/bars/discos etc. never did much for me but I just don't know how else to spend new year's eve in London.... Any suggestions for worthwhile causes or just how to spend a few hours on the night in good company and see the new year in? Thanks!

Go and work in a bar or restaurant. You will get a fortune in tips and treble pay too. Use the money to buy a few gifts for friends and give £20 to Oxfam. You will have helped some people, made your mates happy, and perhaps you might make a new friend in this job.
Or volunteer for the Samaritans - some people get lonly and depressed at New Year and need a shoulder to cry on. You could be that shoulder.
Whatever you do - HAVE FUN!
