I have a thumping noise on my Olds that thumps slowly at slow speeds and faster at high speeds. The tires were removed, checked and rebalanced and the problem persists. Hard steering to the right while moving fast enough to push the driver to the left causes the thumping to stop momentarily. Hard steering of the same magnitude to the left causes the noise to increase. Could it be the control arm in the steering assembly or in the wheel connections? Any ideas would be appreciated. The increase in pressure on the right is a definite cause of the problem but WHY?

It is the rat in the rat cage/wheel that runs your car.

CV joint....cause the joint has to move in and out of the sleeve as you are cornering...it might also be louder under heavy acceleration. if you look and the boot is torn or ripped, 95% sure its the CV joint
