it was "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", a beatles song written by Paul in 1967

it's really cool, if you remember all the faces they had in the background on the screen while they were playing that song, and you look at the CD cover for Sgt. Pepper's (http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/british/images/vc275.jpg), you can see that they parodied it and used people more current in our culture.
Also, another REALLY cool thing is that the opening lyric to that song goes "it was twenty years ago today": Live Aid (1985) was exactly twenty years ago from Live 8 (2005). They were very similar events, and both proved to be a great help to the cause of poverty in Africa.
If you noticed, they also had four guys come out in colored suits playing the brass instruments. That was supposed to be the beatles, as they appeared on the CD cover ;]
