Well, they don't deal with homicidal, teen school girls, but, I love Alison Anders' two strong female movies, "Gas, Food, Lodging" and "Mi Vida Loca". Both are well written and the acting is exceptional. Also, I liked "Whalerider" and "Once Were Warriors, both are films about the Maori people of New Zealand. Again, the characters are phenomenal and the writing is great.
