I have created a template for the game blockbusters using a powerpoint slideshow. It only consists of one slide but I want to be able to make any selected letter flash when clicked on during "view show". I would also like to be able to change the background colour of the selected tile when a question is answered correctly.

One method would be to use a flash animation for this, however, as I develop high quality training courseware, I would question as to why you would want to flash text?

You probably can't do it with just one slide.

Some of the features interfere with each other, so that it will be easy if you have a particular order that the letters appear in, but altering the order ("Yes, I really do want a P, Bob") could mean you need a separate slide for each letter to flash on (where everything but the flashing letter is identical to the rest), AND a separate slide for each 'solved' tile.

Powerpoint was developed specifically for 'computerising' the traditional slideshow lecture (which progresses in a particular order), so it's a bit limited for other tasks.

It might be worth checking out other kinds of presentation software, which may be better suited to the job.

You can assign special actions to a text box so drag a text box on the slide and place a letter in it. Then right click the box and select Custom Animation and select the animation you want.
