Well, there is this idea that Harry Potter is a movie that can be applied to all age groups and that should be enjoyed by the whole family. So during times like Christmas that are meant for family members to gather Harry Potter just seems an appropriate movie.

The Harry Potter films are extremely popular with both parents and children. As Christmas is considered by many to be a time of togetherness, putting on films that all the family enjoy could be considered socially responsible.

A more cynical interpretation is that the films bring with them high ratings, and advertising revenues are highest in the lead up to Christmas.

I know I wondered this, too. I don't think it has anything to do with Christmas, but it's a movie people enjoy, plus they are going to show the new trailer for the new Harry Potter movie that is due out in July, so I think they are leading up to that.

Most Christians do not think Santa Claus has anything to do with Christmas, either. MANY Christians do not believe that the pagan Christmas tree or other decorations whatsoever have anything to do with Christmas. Personally, with the way all the religious fanatics have been behaving, I don't think Christ would want anything to do with Christmas these days, either.

Most likely because Harry Potter brings the family together to sit and watch it.
