An oversplit is the splits but your leg is hyperextended so it comes off the floor and creates an angle.

stretch before even attempting it, you've probably heard all of this before but try sitting down and putting one leg on a phone book or even a couch or bed, then go into the splits as far as you can. stay there for a few seconds. Lean in and out of it. Do this everyday or every other day (if your muscles get sore) Keep doing your other stretches as well. Good luck! =D

You need to do stretching that makes your hip joints rotate. Like sit in a butterfly position and push your knees down. Or sit down on your butt and put your arms behind your body, lift your feet straight up in the air and bring them down slowly and try to get them to come straight down instead of to the front of your body. That hurts, but its good for a oversplit. Or have you heard of gravity splits?? Its where you scootch your butt up to a wall and have your legs placed straight up on the wall then drop your legs evenly down and hold for 2 min, sounds easy, but it hurts like heck!
I am a dance teacher, so knowing this stuff comes in handy!
Hope that helped!
