I dated my husband for almost 6 years and finally we decided to get married. We got married this January but everything changed after that. I was under so much stress when I was dating him but because of his Short Temper I never had a chance to discuss our problems with him. I didn't get married in the UK but when I came back here it was never ending stress for me. I have a friend who lives abroad and we started talking about my problems...things got very mixed up since then as my husband thought I was cheating on him. He wanted me to choose between him and my good friend abroad, which I refused. Since then my husband started abusing me very badly and we decided not to live together. Now I want to apply for a divorce when my first year is Completed but I have no idea how much it's gonna cost me. I have got no kids, no property attached to him. So guys and girls if there is any of you out there who got divorced recently any advice is really appreciated?? Thanks.

Do it quick and make sure you do it fairly... If you can be amicable about it, that helps a lot...

If you are in the US (of course it depends on which state), well I used to do divorces for $400 as a paralegal, but you can do it a lot cheaper if you go down to the courthouse, pay them a small amount, get the template forms and do it yourself. Since there are no children and no property it (doing the paperwork, filing it, sending copies, waiting for his signature and returning the paper to you, etc. and waiting for the court appearance) should take you less than 6 weeks.

One would have thought one would have known what one would have been like before marrying one--especially after 6 years? One should have known...shouldn't one!! Get out as soon as possible for your own safety, why wait until your "first year is completed"? Several things do not add up with regards your situation, or you and him, get out and don't do this again, marriage is not an institution to be wasted by people who are not even clued up on dating, let alone the sanctity of marriage.

It depends on the marriage laws of the country you married in. If you can work together on the divorce, it'll work out cheap. Laywers make money by playing you off against each other. Try to get some decent legal advice. Good luck!

If the divorce is mutual and no property of kids to settle, it should cost only a couple of hundred dollars. Good for you for leaving instead of becoming a punching bag.
