Me and my wife are the proud parents of a wonderful 3 month old baby boy. However, the other day, he grabbed a Barbie doll at the toy store instead of the transformer toy I wanted him to get. My wife says that he was born transgendered and we need to support him in his life choice. We went out and bought him pink clothes and redid his room. We always tell him that we accept his life choice. However, I am secretly bitter that he will never be the manly son I wanted, that I will never get to watch his football games. I know he was born transgendered but, like most proud fathers, I wanted a more conventional son. What can I do? I love my son and will support his lifestyle choice, but it still weighs on me.

Your son is only 3 months old? I think it's a bit of a stretch to say right now that he's transgendered. Just because he's a boy and he reached for a colorful pretty barbie doll instead of a probably dull looking transformer toy, does not by any means mean he's transgendered. It may mean he's just a boy and wanted the girl. I think it's too soon of an age for him for ya'll to assume he's transgendered. What if you are raising him how you are now, and he actually grows up and wants to know what ya'll are doing?

He is 3 months old....barbie has brighter colors than the transformers. It doesn't make this a crisis.....just give him time, I'm sure that he'll be okay and the "manly" son that you want. I certainly wouldn't worry about a 3 month old being any sort of thing except new to the world and loving new colors.

you are overreacting

just because he grabbeed one toy 'the other day' does not mean his future is set in concrete...

a 3 onth old has so little awareness of those issues grabbing somethign is meaningless at that age

I say........lead him/her to the woods and have wolves raise 'em. He has had it too easy......playing with barbie!!! There will be no gender for your son in the woods. It will be kill or be killed!!! Tag him first before you release him. 16 years from now you can track him and procede with step 2. Manners. Good luck.
