Americans have just lost the loyalty of American businessmen who would rather get filthy rich then show their patriotism by employing fellow Americans. I think the government needs to stop accepting payoffs and begin banning products produced by American companies who do not have their factories inside the USA, and who do not employ American citizens.

Well there is a little bit of a problem with your question's premise... we never had the fundamental right to survive... to be able to do the things you mentioned. We have the fundamental right to pursue happiness which doesn't gurantee we will achieve it.
Now with that said, I am a true-believer that what you mentioned was FDR's intent when he created the New Deal. He basically recognized that we were on the verge of becoming a 3rd world country during the Great Depression then created a psuedo socio-capitalist structure for us. His New Deal put protection and some would argue, guarantees, into our government. The New Deal created things like welfare, food stamps, etc.. as well as, many other things.

I don't think they lost the fundamental right, but it has definitely become harder. The cost of living has gone up so high, hardly anyone in my area can afford to buy a home unless they're making over $100 grand a year. The job market is also tough to break into. There is a lot more competition, everyone has a college degree now, and it seems to be more about who you know, rather than which school you went to.

Our world has turned into a global market place with everyone on the planet competing for a piece of the pie. Aside from the big boys, who play on a scale with rules of their own, the rest of us are going to have to fend for ourselves. That means we are going to have to be educated, well informed, and very flexible. As education in the US is collapsing, and our children are 38th in the world in math and science, our place in the world economy looks more and more in jeapordy. As global corporations now run the world economy, we will have no more right to a good job than anyone else, so we better be prepared. This right to a job is not yet gone, but it is definitely slipping away.

No. If we have lost anything, it is the ability to delay our gratification.
We want everything, and we want it now. Credit card debt is the biggest cause of poverty outside of the segment of society living on welfare.
If you believe our economy is bad, who are those people camped outside of stores waiting to pay $600 for an x-box?
