Yes, I did, these are called white lies.
But sometimes, if you are their friend, you need to tell them the truth, just be nice about it...
You can say something like, No, i don't think you are fat, however, you might have few extra pounds.... but you still look good!

Well if you were a true friend you would tell the truth!!
if your friend thinks shes fat and you say no, then I'm sure you will be helping her a long a psychological and physical damage but you do temporarily make her think ohh arent i fat but within minutes her old way of thinking will come back.
Just say she isn't as bad as she think she is and talk about things she could do to help herself lose weight I'm sure if you were true friends she would take it as constructive criticism as the next step to improve her image and health.

No. I haven't lied to my friends to make them happy. If I must tell them something to a pointed question that I'm sure will offend, I try to find a gentle & tactful means to say it.
Usually, they are well aware of this before I speak because they're attuned to the very pregnant pause that happens & often they'll rephrase before I ever start talking.

yes I've lied to my friends in some occasions to make me happy, like they want to watch this really awful independent film, and I say that I'm tired, but I'm not. but if it's for their own good, then I'm honest.

I try not to lie, but I also try not to hurt their feelings, and usually they just want to be reassured, so you have to tread carefully. When I ask my husband if I look fat in this dress, pants, etc... he tells me the truth. (and sometimes I don't like it, but I appreciate it.)

to friends no, if they are my friends I prefer to be honest and they should understand. Of course as a friend I would also give them some advice, like exercises etc

i cosider fat anything 3 sizes bigger than me (im not skinny and not fat- i guess you could say i'm thin) the friends who are 3 sizes bigger than me kow they fat, so they don't ask. and if you don't want to hurt them answer their question w/ a question. "well, do you think i'm fat?" or "do YOU think your fat"

Of course, I think the majority of us do that to not hurt our friends feelings.
