Johnson's paste wax is good on wood floors, it is hard work though. basically it is the same process as waxing your car. wipe on, let dry to a haze, and buff off. floors look beautiful....but don't wear socks for a while walking on it....you will slide for the first couple of days.

Talk to a company who specialise in sanding and varnishing floorboards. We had ours done last year when we bought a new house and the guy had lots of good advice about what varnish was best and what aftercare (wax or polish) was most appropriate according to the wood and varnish.
Trust the experts and you'll get the best results!
