Hello! I Have been playing piano for about a year now, but I am advanced for that playing time. I have a concert coming up in March (I think it is on the third), and I need a piece of classical music to play. I would really like a type of song that sounds pretty , because I will be playing on an EXTREMELY nice piano. I am very competitive, so I can memorize anything. Do You have any reccomendations?

P.S.---- Remember that I have only been playing one year. If you dont know any classical sheet music, then what is your favorite piece of music that you have ever played on the piano?

Good for you. I applaud your efforts in learning piano. I have been playing piano all my life.

Given the parameters that you have mentioned, I might mention some music that I played a lot in my youth and have loved all my life since then.

An easy piece to learn but it will take more time to learn how to interpret it is THE GIRL WITH THE FLAXEN HAIR by Claude Debussy. In French it is called LA FILLE AUX CHEVAUX DE LIN It is an incredibly beautiful piece and would play very nicely on that wonderful piano you refer to.

Also, a little harder to learn but Debussy's most recognized piano composition is CLAIR DE LUNE. Very popular, everyone plays it because it is one of the most lovely piano compositions of all time.

More difficult yet, but one of the most hauntinginly beautiful pieces is the first movement of SCHUBERT'S Piano Sonata in B Flat. Just the first movement.
You can listen to a sample of it on this recording sold through Amazon. The piece is very tender and O so beautiful. One of my favorites. By the way, I am a composer. Good Luck, God Bless.

The Guitar uses the treble clef, which follows standard scoring procedures. You may want to state that you are only playing the treble clef. However, modern guitarists follow a different scoring procedure called Tablature, or Tabs for short. If you're playing from a tab, or are expected to supply a tab, you would need to give a tab instead.
