Italy. They, unlike Argentina and Spain, improved as the competition progressed. Germany (surprisingly entertaining) were the unluckiest team. But luck plays little part in sport.

Many of you probably didn't notice that except for a goal that Italy scored into their own net, plus goals scored on penalty kicks, ITALY ONLY ALLOWED A SINGLE GOAL IN THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT. The one to France in the final game.

Also, Italy was second in goals scored with 12 (Germany had 14).

All this was accomplished despite Italy having had more fouls committed against them than any other team.

I think the answer is obvious.

Germany... they overachieved and were the most talented and well coached team. They played aggressive football at all times. They got screwed in the Italy match, and then still had the fortitude to come back and dominate for third place.

Italy,

They only allowed 2 goals, one was an own goal and the other was penalty.

They dealt well with injuries , scandals and all the other problems.

A lot of players scored that means all the team r capable of scoring.

The coach gave a chance to all the players to play except one.

just watch their game against Germany.

ENGLAND.. they went out with a good showing. You have to take into consideration that Owen was injured and in their last name Beckham went out and he would have insured a win. Portugal played a nasty game and the refs didn't open their eyes to notice that. Its incredible to see how teams and players can get away with murder. and italy was not deserving of that cup. they won on fluke and they faked a lot. i mean come on the zidane thing was bad but they have made everyone try to feel bad for them and that shouldn't be. england played honest and no one gives credit to them for how they played. they all blame it on Sven and Beckham which is unfair considering their contribution.
