I don't support the death penalty. But I've never lived through what the Iraqi people have lived through.
This is an Iraqi decision to make, and I have no doubt they'll want him dead. Can I really blame these people, who've endured unmentionable cruelty at the hands of Saddam, and now endure such hardship at the hands of both foreign invaders and civil militants, for wanting some type of retribution, some kind of hope? If Saddam's death gives them some hope, then let it be so.

NO.
He was removed from power illegally against the UN Convention as the president of a sovereign country.
He was tried by his political opponents and could not have a fair hearing.
He was denied proper legal representation.
Based on the situation today it was prov en to be a mistake.
Most Iraqi's wish he was back to give stability to the country and the USA out.
Just another big mistake by the USA imposing themselves on the world.

this is just hypocrosy at its worst how can he be executed for crimes against his people when deposing him has resulted in hundreds of thousands more deaths than he caused goverment oficials are sending out death squads daily torturing and killing anything up to three thousand people a month and the ordinary Iraqis are wishing he was in charge and it was still the good old days
OK he was an evil dictator but he was head of state invading was illegal regime change is illegal and the result has turned a country with practically no crime into a living hell who is going to be held responsible and punished for that
Not the ones who say if they were wrong they`ll be judged by God

You have to remember that the allies put him in a position of power because it suited them, just as Idi Amin was. Ousting Saddam has nothing to do with genocide etc but has everthing to do with oil and the chance for the money mogals to get richer from the proceeds of the rebuild. If you think deposing him did the Iraqis a favour just look at the civil war raging in Iraq now, there will be no peace there now until the country is split in three.
The worst thing they can do now is to execute him. what next, Korea, Iran, where do we stop, when do we say enough is enough ??

l greatly agree that he is a tyrant. But by executing him he will
become a mar tor.
the simple truth is there will never be stability in this region.
a tyrant is needed to rule the area , after the Americans leave
( approx 2,900 dead to date ) a faction will take up rule and
another Saddam will exist.

Better yet, forget Saddam and find Bin Laden. After finding Bin Laden, kill him in any method that strikes the executioner's fancy at the moment.

Unfortunatly if he got life in prison there could be a risk of the factions supporting him taking hostages non stop to demand his release this will prolong any tensions in that country.......
But then if he is killed the factions supporting him are going to go on the rampage......its a catch 22 situation which is the lesser of two evils here :|

I am opposed to capital punishment on principle and therefore it has to stretch to every situation. So, no, I don't think he should be executed. I don't believe that by his absence from the world, the world will become a better place.
I don't believe we will make the world a better place by hating hateful people, in fact I think that that just brutalises people more. There has to be a better way.
As a Christian I believe that God is the ultimate judge, and he will do what is just and right in the end.

No Weapons Of Mass Destruction found (reason given for invasion).
Iraq in turmoil and chaos - with both US and UK desperate to find a face saving way out.
UK troop casulties and morale... would you wanna be out there ?
I don't deny that Saddam is guilt of some appauling crimes... but I'd rather see him put in to total exile/prison - as his execution could cause even more trouble for UK troops in Iraq.
