Because the pilgrims did on the first Thanksgiving. Simply tradition.

With the Indians.

If I'm not mistakine it's an indigious American animal and one the Indians liked to eat.

It's bigger than a chicken so it feeds more people.

So they introduced it to the Pilgrims.

What I've yet to fully undestand is why we have Ham on Easter, seeing as how Jesus was Jewish and Kosher!

they are more plentiful than other large birds and chickens are too small. ham is much better though
