For the fist time I viewed the holiday realistically like you do, and come to the same conclusion.

I own a video which I taped from a T.V. series that aired in 1984, called "the Mystic Warrior".

You can buy the book on ebay, but the video I have can't be found anywhere.

It depicts native Americans as spiritual people with a rich tradition.

That has been downplayed for so long now, but if everyone were to open their minds, they would find good in all people.

Once we can do that much, you'll see a dramatic improvement with foreign relations.

May never happen, but we can dream.

Ummm.....that's pretty narrow minded statement. Personally, I dont't think that anyone was ever native to America. Our ancestors either came by boat or migrating over connected lands at some point. My ancestors suffered over many years and I don't dwell on it (I am Japanese-American and the Japanese endured two atom bombs and internment camps in the U.S.). We should think of Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks for the many good things and people that we have in our lives. So, get over it and celebrate!

Thanksgiving is actually not celebrating the mass killing but when finally the indians and pilgrams were able to come together stop fighting and enjoy a meal together.

most history lessons don't seem to agree with you. i always thought thanksgiving day was about just that. however, generalizing is often misleading. the natives fought one another, took slaves, committed massacres, and generally did all the things the Europeans and others did, good and bad. also, while i think that we shouldn't forget our past, the truth of all human existence is that we must always move forward or risk annihilation.

I think you are wrong...it was to celebrate a good harvest.....and the indians shared the meal with them..even cooking some of the dishes

that's not what we're celebrating! they made peace and so we celebrate thanksgiving for what we have to be thankful for, as they did back then. it's a time to realize hey, we're better off than we think!
