odd as it may sound, some of our most treasured family times were during very hard times.

Becoming poor was easy, I was born that way and was never able to focus on one thing long enough to make money at it. Being happy is a totally different thing and for me it comes from taking note of and appreciating the things most people take for granted, like the beauty of a tree as it passes through the seasons, or the affection my cat shows me, or how my fish eat from my hand.

I was raised spoiled, had everything I wanted till my parents divorced and mom took my dad to the cleaners....lol... All of a sudden there was no more butlers, I had chores, we moved to a ugly house.... it sucked..... being poor stinks...big time, but now Im growing up, I have a job, Im my own motivation to go to school, and Im happy, the fact is I found the Lord Jesus Christ, and in him I found peace and happiness, you can be rich, or poor, sick, or healthy, but you can always be happy, just if you seek Him out!

When we were first married we didn't have much money at all. We ate low cost food like bread, eggs, and soup. We could not afford cable tv or color tv, only a black and white from a garage sale. We lived in an old trailer and had a old beater car. Now I have been very succesful in my career and have more money than I ever thought I would, but those poor days seem like the best days of my life.

I was born poor, then my mom married a really rich man, and so I spent eight years being rich beyond my wildest dreams, being able to get whatever I wanted and going to a private school. Then she got divorced and I was poor again... so somehow, you end up appreciating the things that you DO have

Poor and happy is a function of having nothing else to do but pay attention to your loved ones. There's no money for anything else.
People, relationships, friends... that's what it's all about; NOT stuff.
Can you be rich and happy? Depends on whether you finally "get it".... people are the path to happy. Distractions (jobs, duty, buying/giving attention to "things") are the path to rich.
