I've noticed you can vote for your own answer? I haven't done so yet.....

Have you?

Is it ethical?

I mean everyone is gonna think their own answer is the best.

It's a little pointless and egotistical to do so. The idea of this site is that we collect information from various viewpoints, and then allow others to judge the value of the content.

Voting for your own answer defeats the purpose, so certainly is unethical. It's most likely against Yahoo!'s rules too.

I can't imagine how anyone can feel they've 'won' by voting on their own answers - it seems SO childish. There are no prizes and no bragging rights here - we're all just trying to share our experience and information.

I exceedingly plenty accept as true with what you assert. it somewhat is complicated to me too from time to time whilst i in my view needed to compliment a ultimate answer to my question, yet for regardless of reason became no longer able to get admission to the internet for an afternoon or 2 and my question gets despatched to balloting. Sooo...right that's what I propose: sure, questions can nonetheless expire, as in they are in a position to't take anymore solutions. inspite of the undeniable fact that, they do no longer without delay flow to balloting. provided that the asker needs to deliver it to balloting because of the fact they are in a position to't pick a ultimate answer -- then it is going to flow to balloting. If no longer, then it purely expires and that's that, however the asker could desire to deliver it to balloting even after it expires. this theory might make it so as that there are not all those dumb, meaningless questions in the balloting line and in basic terms people who somebody surely needs there to be a vote on would be in there. otherwise, the asker can %. ultimate answer and which would be that.
