There is no such thing as a UK size 0. The smallest UK size is a 4, which is the equivilent of a US size 0 (measurements 31-23-33). Yes, it is ridiculously skinny for a women that is around 5ft10-6ft. Those are the measurements of a 10-12 year old! HTH : )

I don't think the people who are a size 0 are to blame, I do think however the people that promote it are. Perhaps some one should publish pictures of these people and see if they are all size 0, I think not.
Its actually a vicious circle we all pick up a celeb mag at one time or another where the front page reads look at this celebs cellulite or the celebs that have put on pounds. The next edition reads has she got an eating disorder.
As long as your healthy it doesn't matter.

No they at the instant are not stable function fashions in any respect, in spite of in the event that they're certainly like that, they should not be this variety of ladies we are defining as appealing simply by fact it makes females who are not certainly like that do in spite of it takes to be like that. And that of direction finally ends up in anorexia, bulimia and conceit matters. To be trustworthy nevertheless, i don't think of they're the sole difficulty. until the media and vogue companies start up catering and merchandising healthful sized females, and ladies who're greater beneficial, then it won't rely in the event that they ban length 0 fashions simply by fact there continues to be the size 2 fashions (is it 2? i'm uk so length 0 is actualy length 4, then the subsequent length up could be length 6 in uk, which i'm assuming is length 2?) who're the sole ones that are being shown to be appealing. you would be a uk length 12 or 14 (i'm guessing US sizes 8-10?) and be relatively healthful and appealing, yet those sizes are not shown on the runways or in the magazines. that's the place the matters are.

I realise models are meant to be clothes hangers, just there to promote the clothes, but the industry has to realise that a) clothes look far better on someone that can fill them, and b) pubescent girls look up to models and many read the teenage versions of Vogue and Cosmopolitan...the industries need to take some sort of responsibility here and promote healthy eating and healthy sized models, as shown in the recent Dove campaigns, where the models look far healthier and appealing.

The only reason that people allow themselves to become that way is because of societies BS stigma that to be worth anything as a human you have have triple F boobs, a size zero waste, have been in 400 porn movies, have money out the wazoo, and all the newest toys, clothes blah blah blah. As long as people with no self esteem, self worth or just plain old common sense keep buying into that BS there will always be people that kill themselves to look as sick as Kate Moss.
As for who decided you had to be that thin to be a model...you did, the guy next door to you did, the models agent did, some kid beating off to lingerie pictures in a bathroom did. As long as we keep buying into the Industries BS, like buying the magazines, the latest IPod and software, the newest style of Seven jeans or watching music videos; the longer this stigma will continue and it'll only get worse.

I think size 0 models, are just people who have eating disorders or high metabolism rate.People should just stay happy with who they are(referring to a healthy person).Youths are just influenced by the media. As many pretty people are skinny. Its more of a perceived "prefect" body. Everyone wants to be pretty right?
People think that "prefect" bodies would make them a model. Well, it really depends. Models have a talent to say a lot through their eyes, i admire them for that. If i were a guy, i think i would want a girl who is fit, just the right size, not just the skin and bones.Wouldn't you, guys??

I think it is silly. I think the fashion industry is a bit evil... have you seen that film "The Devil Wears Prada?" (I think there is a novel too). Perhaps fashion designers think Barbie is the correct shape for a woman.
Personally I think that the fashion industry should be forced to have some social responsibility towards those it influences, just like fast food should have a social responsibility to be healthier. Although people can make their own choices "no man is an island" and we are influenced by what people keep showing us.

Actually, you don't have to be thin to be a model. Haven't you ever heard of plus size models? I do know what you mean, though. It seems like you have to be over weight or under weight in order to model. Did you know that on one modeling website they said that Kate Moss was a size 6-8 with a 24 inch waist and is 5'11' and 113 lbs? That doesn't add up to me. When I was a size 6, I had a 26 inch waiste, am 5'7' and 140 lbs.

my cousin lives in America and she's a size 0.
I'm 16 and she's 18 and she looks about 2 years younger than me and very unhealthy and I'm not even big or anything, in fact I'd be a size 2 in America but the difference between me and her is startling.
I really want her to put on some weight - she's not exactly aneroxic because she's really short like me but she just appears to be so ill - there is no colour in her cheeks even.
ooh she's not a model by the way, she's just a normal school girl...
and she doesn't purposely starve herself either - she loves mcdonalds etc, she's naturally very thin but the fact that she's quite a picky eater doesn't help matters.

They all look very ill, and it's not just the models, a lot of celebs scarfe & barf too. You would think that they would realize the huge effect they have on young girls who idolize them! But once they start starving themselves (anorexia), or scarfe & barf (bulemia) it becomes a disease, which unfortunetly they pass on to so many of our kids. You're right, something needs to be done as soon as possible to promote a healthier lifestyle! Maybe we could all get together and try to start a group to do this! It would be wirth a try!!! Just email me thru this site if you want to do this...
