I have white deposits that form, I think it is mostly from my hot water line, they are soft, opaque white crystals that eventually block the faucet screens, they are easily washed out when I take out the screen, and they have a soft soapy feel to them. Anyone have an idea what these are and how to prevent them.

I have a lot of calcium in my water but mine is hard. Being soft--I don't know. I can not think calcium is soft but I am not sure there.

Not to worry.. Water(most all water) contains calcium and that white stuff is merely calcium deposits.. If it is on a screen to your faucet end(where the water comes out) .. take it off(the screen) and wash it with a brush.. It should come off easily.. If not.. let it soak in a vinegar(white) and water mixture for a short while and then brush.. being careful NOT to damage the copper screen.. As far as HOW to prevent it.. No way because water has calcium period

Those are calcium deposits and you can't prevent them. That's normal. However, don't drink hot water from the tap...always heat it on the stove. You can treat your drains with Vinegar to get rid of it if it's clogging drains. But, really, it's no big deal at all.

It's either calcium or lime. If it's a problem you can install a water softener that uses salt to neutralize minerals. If your water doesn't lather easily, you have hard water and need a softener. Water ionizers also solve problems with heavy metals and adds antioxidents
