i bought plane ticket to the Philippines from an auction site, it had travel date and black out periods that extended my stay there up to 35 days...after checking i found out that travel there is 21 days without a visa. i'm wondering if i can get it at airport upon arrival if i can find a way to expedite it thru the consul here. i travel on the 12th of Dec. also can you just do a border crossing like in Thailand to restart the time not needing a visa? anyone who has traveled there and has any suggestions it would be much appreciated hearing from you....thanks in advance

The Phillipines is surrounded by water... I think it might be a tad hard to just do a border crossing , don't you think?

Besides the closest country may not be the cheapest way to get there - which happens to be the state of Sabah in East Malaysia.

First off.. what is your citizenship and what passport do you hold? That is the only indication of what I can tell you.

Plus the issues of 'border-crossing'... the only way for you to do that is to get maybe a cheap flight out of the country with their low cost carrier, Cebu Pacific.

Easiest thing to do is nothing because when you try to depart the country they will extend it for you at the wonderful cost of $40 and a $10 penalty for being late in extending it. They will not extend it on arrival, and you will pay the same price no matter what immigration office you go to so why go through the hassle when it can be done when you depart at the Airport. I have done this 4 times and it is no big deal. It just helps pay their government....hahaha

You can extend your visa upon arriving here in the Philippines. Go to the nearest Immigration Office. For more info, check Philippine Immigration website at http://www.immigration.gov.ph

You can also check about Philippine visa concerns at http://www.dfa.gov.ph

Philippines is an archipelago (composed of 7,100 islands). You can also enter the backdoor route from Malaysia and Indonesia via Mindanao Island, south of the Philippines.

Hope this helps.

You can either arrange it at the Philippine Embassy in the country where you are, or extend it when you arrive at the immigraiton office in Intramuros.
