My family and I have lived in the mountains of Andalucia for 15 years now, we are from the U.K. and love it. The people are very friendly and the pace a life a great improvement on the U.K. The climate is wonderful and the Mediterranean diet excellent.
My only regret is that there are too may Brits here now, well they know a good thing when they see it, and in this part of Spain at any rate things are changing alot.
However I think we should just move to a quieter less commercial area rather than leave Spain altogether.
That said I do run a web site that specializes in holiday villas in this part of the world so I guess I am partly to blame!
Anyway I think it is a lovely country, my 3 children have all enjoyed growing up and going to school here and consider themselves more Spanish than English.
If you are interested in reading about our experiences of coming to Spain then you may do so on my web site:-

I have 3 experiences of Spain. First I was only 9 and it ws the Costa Brava . I stayed in Playa D'aro or something like that. It was a great place and really nice. When 14 I stayed in Santa Ponsa, Majorca for 2 weeks. Got food poisoning which ruined most of the holiday as dad got it too and mam had to mind both of us. Final experience was of Loyola in Basque country. it is a very quiet but beautiful area. Spanish language much too hard for me. I can't roll my r. Spanish people can be a little loud/noisy but are very nice generally. I have a friend from Barcelona. I grew up with spanish students from Madrid and santander mainly in my home.

Hola Marta. I moved to Javea, on the Costa Blanca from the U.K. 3 years ago and love it here. I would never move back to the U.K. from choice. The weather is great and there is so much outside activities going on. Yes, Spain is truly a wonderful place. By the way I wish my Spanish was just half as good as your English.
Adios.

If you are buying household vacation places then Madrid is the city and that hotelbye is the spot to start. Your children will only enjoy Madrid because there are enough theme parks, zoos and activities to keep them occupied for weeks. In Madrid you may also discover some of the popular place on earth like: Alcalá Gate, el arena de football Santiago Bernabéu, la Plaza España Square and much more. Madrid also presents places where you will get socked with lifestyle, places like: Thyssen Museum or Archaeological Museum. In several words: Madrid is a city that's many exciting areas showing it.

I moved to Cadiz in August after visiting there for over 5 years. There are many reasons why I love Spain. I would not be interested in going anywhere like Ibiza where you get loads of tourists thoe. I think if your going to visit a country its good to see the real culture and the life and not be reminded of what you get back home like fish and chips and violent drinkers!

Hi Marta
I live in Gran Canaria but am English and have visited Madrid, Barcelona, and Asturias and loved it every time you have a beautiful country, full of variety and stunning scenery, the people are friendly and fun loving. Good luck with your studying I'm working on my Spanish but I think your level of English is probably better.
