Hi - I need to dress in the theme of rock and pop stars.

I am trying to come up with a female pop / rock star from the past 30-40 years who has a very distinctive look - so that people know immediately who I am!

Madonna & Blondie already taken

I am 35 year old female, average build, with long dark hair... though would happily wear a wig / make-up and completely daft costumes. I can hire stuff, so please think widely... :S

Please help!

janis joplin - you could do the 60s thing, get a boa even and go as her alter ego Pearl - don't forget the bottle of southern comfort
cyndi lauper - use total retro clothing from the 50s but with crazy punk hair
cher - her 70s look is fun
tina turner has a distinct look
stevie nicks - long blonde hair and an outfit that includes a silky/seethrough cape

Wat about Christina Aguilera during her 'dirty' phase - you could cut the bum cheeks out of a pair or trousers and put a long blonde wig over your dark hair to look like her ropey two-tone extensions?

Or if you want something more clothed how about Kylie's white hooded thingy in the video for 'Cant Get you out of my head'?

Both are pretty distinctive outfits that most people associate immediately with the artists involved.

Courtney Love - get a silky slip or a babydoll dress, fishnet tights, high heels, lots of red lipstick, dirty blonde hair and cigarettes and you are good to go.

She's better that Madonna anyway!

i know this isnt from the past 30 - 40 years
but you could be either juliette lewis, from juliette and the licks
or you could be Amy lee from evanescence
theyre both awesome singers and theyre both pretty
if you are Amy lee, then you could wear a pretty goth dress
if you are juliette lewis, then just wear rele weird clothes and make the colours clash

How about Tina Turner?
You only really need a wig and short dress, and a bit of make up..

Go as David Bowie - he is very cool and a bit androgenous so you could get away with being him (unless you have huge boobs) also you could wear the excellent Ziggy Stardust make-up he wore!

What about the invisible man? You needn't go to the party, but you can call the next day and say what a great time you had.

How about Cyndi Lauper (think that's her name), she was very distinctive, mad clothes, pink stripes through her hair and a hat.
