Being emancipated does not make you no longer a minor. You are a minor until you are 18 whether you are living with your parents, on your own or fully emancipated. You can do anything any other 17 year old can do. I don't think any bank would give a 17 year old a mortgage unless there was sufficient income, evidence of employment, and a hefty down payment. Even then I doubt it. I am pretty sure that you can get a bank account, but that would depend on the state you are in. You may need to be 18. As far as signing legal papers, you cannot be legally bound to a contract until you are 18, emancipation has nothing to do with anything. You can sign contracts, but people would not be smart to let you because they cannot hold you legally responsible for it until you are 18.

If you can buy with cash, then yes to the real estate. But for a loan, they're gonna want two years full time employment..... just how long have you been emancipated?

Yes but an emancipated 17y old boy must not think he is a genius and can get into any sort of business because he is emancipated. Generally people who are emancipated are so because their parents had enough to be held responsible for their stupid deeds.

Emancipated means on our own. So, provided you have the down payment and an established good credit rating, I wouldn't see why you couldn't do those things. However, 17 seems a bit young to have had the opportunity to acquire that much money and establish a credit record.

I firmly believe anyone who joins the military should be able to sign a loan, smoke, drink, etc regardless of age.Such a small part of our great country opts for serving it. We should have special benefits for sacrificing more than the average Joe. We should also receive free good Med benefits for life . All our pay should be tax free regardless on where you are stationed.

Yes you can, since an emancipated minor is responsible for his/her own welfare, however, you may find lending institutions hesitant to extend loans to someone so young.

Once you are emancipated, you are treated as an adult. So yes, you can do those things.

You're probably too young for that. Wait 'til you're at least 18, and then you should be able to.
