American here, but living in Australia, here's what I'm seeing over the last 5 years...
The Australian media is spreading news of American companies doing harm to the Australian lifestyle. Let me give you a couple examples I heard on the news. 1. Dexter Shoe company taking over the word "Ugg" for their boots. Now Australians have been calling ugg boots as such for decades and suddenly this US company comes along and bam, we can't say Ugg anymore. How unAustralian! 2. The FDA will not allow the importation of Vegemite, a top-selling spread aussies feed their kids, into the US. They said it was because it contained Folic Acid... thats a B vitamin that assists in cell reproduction within the body! Radio shows are putting up polls over here about it and callers are mad.
I'm always hearing comments... "stupid yanks", "arrogant Americans, they think they own the world".
I love being American, but some US companies are embarrassing the hell out of me. Australia is all about giving everyone a "fair go". America is supposed to be the same, but they dont' seem to care whose toes they step on. There is too much ignorance about what goes on outside the US. It's taken me a long time to adjust to the idea that America isn't perfect. I found myself not liking asians... but why? Hollywood paints this portrait that asians ( based upon ww2 dated cartoons and movies) are lesser people and aren't worth our time. When I finally realized this programming within me I was appalled and saddened.
As for the middle east... their hatred is mostly misdirected by their religious programming/preaching. Their religion is their world, like with most people, and those that are not of the same mind can only be "lesser beings" and not worth their respect. Sound familiar?

People of other nations hate America for many reasons...America forces themselves and thier beliefs on other nations, we over take nations for self serving purposes. Then, we corrupt the new government entities our government put into place. Did you know that America aided Sadam Hussain into becoming Iraq's ruler? Then, when he didn't serve our purposes as expected we took him out. Same thing happened with the Columbian Drug Cartel. Another reason other countries hate America is because of Religion and prophosy Islam was founded as a religion that is the state, where the state is the religion. The ultimate theocracy. There is no separation, no wall, no division. It is a seamless whole and any behavior is allowed to maintain that power. No crime is too gruesome, no argument too convoluted, no terror too shocking, and no theology too cancerous to be off limits in conquering the world for their god.
As a victim of Islamic terror, I was amazed when I saw Americans waking up on September 12th 2001 asking themselves "Why do they hate us?" The psychoanalyst experts were coming up with all sort of excuses as to what did we do to offend the Muslim World? If America and the west were paying attention to the Middle East they would not have had to even ask the question. Simply put, they hate me and you because we are defined in their eyes by one simple word, "infidels."
Below is a website that offers A LOT of insight on many topics challenging America today.

People are saying America sucks for many reasons. For one, America thinks they're the world police but to the rest of the world, America is just an annoying meter maid giving out parking tickets. The most recent and obvious example of that is the Iraq war. Iraq is in a complete mess because of the US. Thousands and thousands had been killed and countless wounded since the US invaded that country. To make matters worst, there’s no end in sight.
Second, Americans think the US is the most prosperous and beautiful country in the world, when in reality, many Americans are living in poverty. Take a look around LA for instance; it claims to be one of the richest and most beautiful city in the US but its litter with homeless people and dead poor neighborhoods. Sure, LA have movie stars and Beverly Hill but how about South central, Compton...and all those other ghetto neighborhoods. And how many Angelos (LA residents) live in Beverly Hill versus those that live in poor neighborhoods? The poor far, far out number the rich. Dispute the facts, most Americans still believe America is the best country in the world. Most Americans are either too ignorant or arrogant to accept that other developed countries are far better than America.
Also, America sucks because most Americans are so damn ugly. I would say 90% of the population is ugly as sh*t. Take a look around you, I’m sure you’ll agree. No wonder the cosmetic industry and plastic surgeons are doing so well in America.
I can go on and on with this, like the Health Care system, the government, poverty rate, education, the transit system in most large cities, technology...etc. But to be fair, I don’t think America really sucks, I just think Americans need to get off their high horses and come to except that they’re no better than many other countries in the world…like Canada for instance.
By the way, can you name a country that still stone people to death??? I can’t think of any myself, but I do remember a time in the US where women we tortured and killed because they we believed to be WITCHES.
Also, can you name a country where people are not free to choose their job or the school they want to attend? Again, I cannot. But I do know that most CEOs and top executives in the US are White Males. Also, I’m sure a lot of parents, I mean who wouldn't, in the US want their kids in private school but simply can’t afford the tuition.
Did you say FREE?????

As an outsider (and I will stress not an American hater) I would have to say that the thing most people dislike about USA is your foreign policies - the way you sometimes get involved in things that dont really concern you - having said that I will also state that this is a political thing and not really anything to do with the general population (except that the gen pop decides who is in charge) - most Yanks I have met have been good people (albeit sometimes a bit loud ...)

In six years, Bush has invaded two countries – one that wanted us to and one that did not. In both cases, however, we have made the lives of the people in Afghanistan and Iraq worse than they were before we invaded. We have also killed hundreds of thousands of their family members and friends. We did all of this against almost unanimous world (and 50 percent of American) disapproval and objection.
We allow Israel to run amok in the Middle East bullying and brow-beating whomever they wish. Our President says he does this because God told him too, and he speaks of a ‘Crusade’.
Our actions have increased the popularity and number if terrorists worldwide. Terror attacks are increasing in number and severity. We treat out countries as less than human and then, after messing everything up, throw money at them and declare that everything is OK.
Bush has stretched America’s military to the point of fatigue and, in the process, incurred a huge national debt that will take generations, if ever, to pay off. To keep the US economy afloat other nations, notably China, have bought up our notes and now hold mortgage to our nation and its economy.
We have a lower life expectancy and higher infant mortality rates than Canada and most of Europe. As a people, our scientific knowledge is roughly the equivalent of Turkey, and less than that of every other developed nation on earth. Our Constitution and democratic republic are being eroded and weakened by a cowardly President who strips us of more rights and liberties every time an old man living in caves in the middle of nowhere farts.
Basically, we treat the rest of the world like we are an all knowing and powerful God, but Bush as been exposed as the faux-wizard behind the curtain, a bumbling, incompetent, and ignorant fool who knows nothing of the world and is too lazy to care to learn.
Yeah, I guess you are right. I can’t imagine why everyone does not just love us to death. Well… maybe the death part.

Because we are setting an example That really show others how limited their concepts of freedom and human rights really are. As for women's rights they don't even come close. And now women from around the world want that equality and many women are willing to die for their cause and many of them have. Now I personnel don't believe that America is all that great in the human right area either, Simply because of America Racial policies. And their treatment of her poor. But then again many other countries don't even come close to America poorest quality. But Americans should not readily throw stones to quickly. for even if American is one of the riches and smartest countries and they give tons of food away to other countries, When there is who know how many people starving to death within the shores of this supposedly great country. And it seems that when ever the Republican Party comes into power this situation just gets worst............ And school grants and food grants and housing grants just disappear, and certain deductions that help the middle class and the poor seem to just vanishes into some unknown places. So back to those countries that hate us they can always rely on America to feed them. Before America feeds its own.......................................

Hmm, lets think who would have a cause to hate your country?
Perhaps this link will help:
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/CIA%20Hits/CIA_GreatestHits.html
Have a look how many countries your country has interfered with.
The big question, were these acts carried out with the knowledge, and/or sanction, of the American government? If not - who is actually in charge of America?
Here's a few quotes from the site to wet your apetite and possibly answer a few questions
"... what the Agency [CIA] does is ordered by the President and the NSC [National Security Council]. The Agency neither makes decisions on policy nor acts on its own account. It is an instrument of the President."
Philip Agee, CIA Diary "But what counter-insurgency really comes down to is the protection of the capitalists back in America, their property and their privileges. US national security, as preached by US leaders, is the security of the capitalist class in the US, not the security of the rest of the people."
"A considerable proportion of the developed world's prosperity rests on paying the lowest possible prices for the poor countries' primary products and on exporting high-cost capital and finished goods to those countries. Continuation of this kind of prosperity requires continuation of the relative gap between developed and underdeveloped countries - it means keeping poor people poor.
Increasingly, the impoverished masses are understanding that the prosperity of the developed countries and of the privileged minorities in their own countries is founded on their poverty."
"American capitalism, based as it is on exploitation of the poor, with its fundamental motivation in personal greed, simply cannot survive without force - without a secret police force.
Now, more than ever, each of us is forced to make a conscious choice whether to support the system of minority comfort and privilege with all its security apparatus and repression, or whether to struggle for real equality of opportunity and fair distribution of benefits for all of society, in the domestic as well as the international order. It's harder now not to realize that there are two sides, harder not to understand each, and harder not to recognize that like it or not we contribute day in and day out either to the one side or to the other."
Philip Agee, CIA Diary
Personally, I have only ever visited your country once but found it no suprise that the people cleaning my hotel rooms, serving my dinner etc in the "land of the free" were all Spanish or African Americans.
As one of ur countrymen put it recently to me "Why would I wanna wash my own car - it's what the Mexicans are for"
Visit the link and see for yourself
Ohh and one other thing when ur not making plans to assasinate Castro or someone your busy EXECUTING people. Old testement eye for an eye stylee! How backward is that.......

As was shown in the recent CNN broadcast.. the children in many Islamic countries (including their schools in the US) are taught, from the earliest grades. There is a constant barrage of hatred perpetrated on these kids. They also get it from their parents when they get home.

For the SAME reasons that you are saying things about THEM.
too lazy to understand another culture, too afraid to see the truth (good OR bad) about your own country. It is too easy to be a "sheeple" and follow along with whatever everybody else is saying.
Open your eyes to the rest of the world and think for yourself.

It has less to do with our laws and practices and more to do with how we carry ourselves. America is the only country that consistently tells other countries how great it is. In addition, we have the notion that, as a superpower, it is our responsibility to interfere with other countries' policies. People hate us, because we refuse to let other countries be.
To those above: Jealousy? I don't think that they are jealous, when it is a matter of our armies coming to their countries uninvited and deciding to set up our own puppet governments in place of theirs. We say that they are unstable regions, or that we are removing a dictator, but that is the U.N.'s job, not ours. The U.N. saw no evidence to interfere. As far as I'm concerned, we invaded (and are in the process of conquering) Iraq.
