I replaced a light in the bathroom and at first it was fine, then when I turned on the switch,it flickered and now I have no power to 3 rooms in my house.I believe it is on the same fuse but the fuses were already replaced and still no power.I already had the electric company come out and they said everything was fine from there end.Help!Everything in this house is old and original. It was built in 1950 and it is a 60 amp service.

Check the wires that attach to the fuse block that services the lights in question and be sure the screws are tight. This has to be done with the power off of course. If this is good go to the first light swithc to see if the wires are attached and so on to all the switches. It is most likely the one closest to the fuse if not at the fuse box. Remember to do all your checking with the fuse removed

First did you replace the fixture or the bulb?
If the fixture then you may have a short within the fixture or a short in the wiring connections. Verify that the power is off and recheck for any shorts. Check the fuse again and give it a whirl.

If you just replaced the bulb then the bulb may be bad. You can test it out at another location or just put in a new one. Check fuses and fire away.

If neither of these work out then call an electrican or qualified friend to help scope out your problem.

House wiring is simple and you probably have a simple problem. Don't panic and never work on a circuit while it is energized.

in the adventure that they ought to comprehend what rooms are plagued by human being fuses, you would possibly want to initiate there. turn on all lights; have someone through a breaker and note what is going off - make a list. Repeat this till once you throw a breaker no longer something occurs. From there, i'd examine each and every electric powered plug & change for a free connection or probable a burned or shorted twine - if so, influence fix, mostly in all probability it is going to likely be free. If this does no longer carry fulfillment, then you favor to envision the breaker; you would possibly want to kill the flexibility to the completed abode for this - throw that substantial ability circuit. you could might want to eliminate the metallic hide and then bypass to the breaker. Please, in the adventure that your no longer electrically useful, do not fool with this, call a approved Electrician in and get it finished....you'd be charged - money no longer voltage for doing something incorrect. reliable luck.

scary..... obviously you need a qualified person...to see it and test it in person...there are so many things that "could be" it...
I assume a lot here normally cause not enough details are ever given... OK why did you change the light? I am guessing it didnt work right? That alone tells me you HAD and still HAVE the same problem...and since it isnt the light...it could be a switch, or the wires or the connections, or many other things... but either way you need a qualified person to test this

You wired it wrong and blew a fuse. check the light wiring and replace the blown fuse. If that doesn't work, call an electrician.
