You know, all you have to do is Google 'broke straight boys' and you'll get a veritable plethora of gay porn websites- they're in high demand! It's how Corbin Fisher and Sean Cody made their fortunes. It's a fantasy for a lot of gay men to imagine successfully seducing a straight boy, and this lets them imagine that fantasy. Same for women who get aroused by male/male action- imagining straight boys who can nonetheless get it on with men is the ultimate fantasy.
Like you said- they need some extra cash, and they do usually get sexual release from it, so it isn't all bad for them- that part can be enjoyable- so they do it.
I once heard a quote "If the government really wanted to cut down on gay porn, they would make college cheaper . . .". Lol.
