It really depends on the place. Being out as trans just cost me a decent job opportunity a couple weeks ago. Then again my new employer is supportive. Some industries are not transfriendly, while others are. You really have to watch what place you apply at really. It is possible. As far as the application goes, you do need to fill out the forms correctly. So, if your legal name is still your former male name, then that's what you have to put down as your legal name. Some applications have a place for putting a preferred first name though. Also, make sure this is something that you plan to stick with. Jumping back and forth across the gender fence and having them re-learn names every couple of weeks is not a good way to get along with your coworkers If you live in the United States, HRC has the Corporate Equality Index that lists how LGBT friendly businesses and industries are. Make sure you open the 2006 copy instead of the 2005 copy.

I would apply for the job as the girl you wish to be and I'd be sure that they never knew any different. I wish you the very best in what you are trying to accomplish and I wish I could do what you're doing.

If you haven't changed your legal name, birth certificate, social security card, and driver's license, then you're going to have a real hard time explaining why you have a boy name.

If you don't have those, you're going to have to fess up to the HR dept that you're TS. Once you're legally changed, you can start living in stealth. You'll have to get a new job though (after this one).

If your name and gender have been changed, then no. Don't tell them. It's none of their business.

For right now I'd go with the sex on your ID. But if your saying that your a women in a mans body, you have every right to be who you are. If you want to live as a women go for it. I wish you the very best, and just keep in mind that life is to short to not be happy.

I think you would have to. Of course, you could wait until your transformation is over then get a new job. I think it would be easier and less awkward if you did the later one instead.

well, where i live you gotta tell them it's all part of the gender reassignment program. just think if you apply for a job as a girl, then get it, what happens if you get found out. scary thought.

If you've got a ding-dong, you're a male. No questions. Wanting to be a girl doesn't turn you into one. You can tell people you're a girl on legal paperwork once you've had gender surgery, or you could end up, at the worst, on fraud charges.

You should also consider a session with a shrink.
