Is this the best book ever? or at least the funniest?

Yes! It's probably the funniest book I've ever read. The book was given to me while I was recuperating in the hospital. Every page had me laughing out loud. My roommate glanced at me nervously several times, and probably wanted me to be sent to the psychiatric ward. This book is a great read!

I've read it, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. It is funny in places. It is also naive and stylistically "undergraduate". More a cult work than anything else, it might have some value in its evocation of New Orleans. I wonder whether it would have achieved the success that it had enjoyed if it weren't published posthumously - with considerable support.

Great Book, too bad the author committed suicide before it was published so we'll never see another book from him. I do believe they're still talking about making it a movie, but it takes awhile to find the right stars I guess.

It is a funny book. What happened to the talk of bringing this to the screen?
