Ok, this isn't a dirty question as you might have at first thought. I live in a block of flats with a security entry. The postman always gets in to the building via the service button. Can anyone press it and the door will open?? What's the point of having it if so? Also, does it only work between certain hours of the day? I can't sleep for worry........ (only jokin of course) Please advise, thanks!

Normally... a service button is for each apartment in the building... IF someone buzzes YOUR service button, the door would not be or could not be opened UNTIL YOU press the button from YOUR apartment

A service button is usually on a time switched circuit, to operate at the expected time of post and milk deliveries, Someone may have adjusted the times to allow further or unrestricted access. If you can find it, (in the services cupboard??) you can reset it.

Most people find it easy to enter a building by walking up just as someone else is entering, or leaving. So much for security entrances.

I heard of some of them only working until 12. I'd be worried too, everyone knows about them. I think it's for postmen and delivery men.

Are you sure that someone else is not letting him in, or does he know the code. If neither of these ask him, because this does not make sense if true.
